At LLG we’ve put together a list of festive displays in London that we find especially impressive and wanted to share!
Carnaby Street
Carnaby Street, the historical hotspot of Soho has themed its festive lights in tribute to the inimitable rock band Queen. In addition to the regular Christmas lights, the lyrics to Bohemian Rhapsody arches over the streets in bright, multicoloured signs creating a quirky festive display.
The Churchill Arms
Built in 1750, The Churchill Arms is famed for being one of the oldest pubs in London and claims that Winston Churchill’s grandparents were regular visitors in the 1800s.
While all year round The Churchill Arms is known as one of the most decorated pubs in the country, each year it is transformed into quite the Christmas spectacle as it’s covered in nearly 100 Christmas trees and over 21,000 lights.
Chelsea
The Ivy
The Ivy has created a festive treat for its Christmas display. Begin your dining experience by entering through their gingerbread themed display with a special Gingerbread Espresso Martini to match!
The Tate Britian
Inspired by David Attenborough, Tate’s winter commissioned artist Monster Chetwynd is showcasing the mating ritual of two leopard slugs glittering in the wintery blue setting. Measuring over 10 metres long, the giant slugs are made of compostable materials and illuminated by LED rope lighting with the hope of proving that even supposedly repulsive creatures can be transformed into something wonderous.
“Through these otherworldly slugs and their hypnotic mating rituals, Chetwynd reminds us that the darkness of winter can be a time of renewal and rebirth” said the Tate.
Kew Gardens
Each year Kew Gardens receives a magnificent seasonal makeover, with lights illuminating a mile-long twinkling trail.
The display this year is said to feature 300 illuminated origami boats floating on the lake outside the conservatory, which itself is lit up with thousands of lazers.
