Our Favourite Streets
Have a read through some of the teams favourite streets in London to wonder down..

Glebe Place, Chelsea
One of my favourite roads in London has got be Glebe Place. I used to work at William Yeoward, whose offices overlook the road, this along with doing our bi-annual sales briefing in one of the old artist studios (built in the mid-19th century) meant I got to know it very well. Artists such as Francis Bacon and Winifred Munnings used to work in the studio’s and I get a great sense of the history and the cultural and artistic hub it used to be. The most prominent house sits right at the end of Glebe Place and although it was built later (late 20th century) than the artist studios, it has been made to look like an old folly. It has a tall and eclectic castle like entrance tower with a Georgian façade, 6 statues at the roof level and painted designs and ironwork on the windowsills. This mix of styles adds to artistic and playful aspect of Glebe Place which contributes to why people warm to this road so much.

Bywater Street, Chelsea
I found this street by accident one day and was pleasantly surprised. The houses are all different colours, there are pastel greens, pale blues and some are more colourful. A particular favourite is a bright bubble-gum pink house complete with a pink window box bursting with flowers. This vibrantly colourful street is like something you might normally find in Notting Hill, so it is a cheerful surprise found off the busyness of the King’s road which offers many delightful shops and restaurants.

Chelsea Embankment
Chelsea Embankment has to be my favourite road to walk along. It offers beautiful views all the way along the north side of the river and there are some stunning houses to admire along Cheyne walk, a street which is famous for its important residents, I believe there are currently 10 homes that have been awarded blue plaques- history as well as beautiful views! My favourite view has to be at dusk looking along the river over Chelsea and Albert bridge, both twinkling with lights, a very special view.

Elm Place, Chelsea
This hidden gem of a road is situated just off the Fulham road in Chelsea. It not only connects my favourite Italian restaurant Ricardos (where you can enjoy the best spaghetti vongole) with a very good pub, but each any every property is unique features and charms adding to the specialty of the street. Some properties have vibrant coloured doors while others have shutters on their windows. My favourite part is the greenery, many of the houses have beautiful fragrant climbing roses and the most incredible wisteria vine spans across full facades. There is a magnificent magnolia tree situated on the corner which brings so much joy in the springtime. Where the street meets Selwood place the most adorable church can be seen tucked away from the Hussle and bustle of roads around it. A joy to walk down day or night as the old style London street lamps are still in place here adding to the charm.

Addison Road, Holland Park
If I walk to work in the morning I have the absolute pleasure of walking down this street and admiring all the stunning houses. I think its up there with one of the most expensive streets in London so its no surprise that all the houses are huge, detached and beautiful. Addison Road is by Holland Park so there are some lovely coffee and farmers shops nearby and of course its near Notting Hill which is a great for markets and shopping. I think I’m going to need to win the lottery but when I do I will be moving in asap [using Pelham Design to do my interiors of course!]
